Terms and Conditions — Venice Lux Car Rental

Venice Lux Car Rental operates the website veniceluxurycarrental.it, offering luxury and sports car rental, chauffeur-driven hire, wedding car hire and airport delivery in and around Venice. Our fleet of 90 cars spans sport, luxury, convertible, SUV, electric, supercar and minivan models, with day rates starting from €210.

These terms apply to every booking made through the website, by email, by phone or via WhatsApp, regardless of the vehicle category or the length of the rental. If you book on behalf of a company, a wedding party or a group, you remain personally responsible, as main driver or organiser, for compliance with these terms.

Nothing is booked, and no car is held, until we confirm it in writing. The process starts with an enquiry: you fill in the form on the site with your name, email, phone number if you wish to give it, the car you are interested in if you have already chosen one, your pick-up and drop-off dates, a flight number if you are using the airport delivery form, and any message you want to add. You can reach us in exactly the same way by email, phone or WhatsApp instead of the form.

Once we receive your enquiry, our team replies with a written quote setting out the car, dates, price, deposit and conditions that apply to your rental. The booking is only confirmed once you accept that quote in writing, by email, message or any other written exchange we both agree is sufficient. Verbal discussions, availability shown on the website or a car being listed as available are not, on their own, a confirmed booking.

Prices are quoted individually for each booking and depend on the car, the dates, the rental duration and any extra services requested, such as chauffeur-driven hire, wedding car hire or airport delivery. The written quote you receive is the price that applies to your booking; prices shown elsewhere on the site, including the day rates from €210, are indicative starting prices for the category and may vary according to season, car and duration.

Unless the quote says otherwise, the price includes the vehicle for the agreed dates, the insurance described in the quote and 200 km per day of mileage. It does not include fuel, extra mileage, tolls, fines, parking charges, or optional extras such as a chauffeur, which are itemised separately when they apply.

Bookings are not paid online through the website. Payment is arranged directly with our team after you accept the written quote, using the method we agree together for your booking.

At handover, a refundable security deposit is held on a credit card in the main driver's name. Depending on the car booked, the deposit ranges from €1,500 to €250,000. The deposit is released within 7 business days after the car is returned, once we have checked for any outstanding fines, tolls or damage. Any amounts due for fuel, extra mileage, fines, tolls or damage are deducted from the deposit before the balance is released.

Our bookings are contracts for the provision of a leisure service to be performed on a specific date or period. Under Article 16(l) of Directive 2011/83/EU, as implemented in Italy by Article 59 of the Consumer Code (Legislative Decree 206/2005), the general 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts does not apply to this type of service. This means you cannot withdraw from a confirmed booking simply because the contract was agreed online, by email or by phone.

Instead of the statutory withdrawal right, we apply the voluntary cancellation policy set out in these terms: cancellation is free of charge up to 48 hours before the start of the rental, and the first rental day is charged if you cancel after that point. This policy is designed to be fair while reflecting that a car, a chauffeur or a wedding-day slot held for you cannot easily be reallocated at short notice.

If your plans change, tell us in writing as soon as possible by email, phone or WhatsApp. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the start of the rental. If you cancel within 48 hours of the start of the rental, the first rental day is charged.

Changes to dates, the chosen car or the services included, such as switching between self-drive and chauffeur-driven hire, are treated as a request to amend the booking and are confirmed, together with any price adjustment, only once we agree to them in writing. We will always try to accommodate reasonable changes, particularly for time-sensitive events such as weddings or airport transfers, but we cannot guarantee availability of a specific car or driver on short notice.

We may need to cancel or change a booking in situations beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, a safety concern affecting a specific vehicle, a technical or mechanical fault discovered before handover, or other force majeure events such as road closures, strikes or extraordinary restrictions affecting Venice or the surrounding area.

In any of these cases, we will contact you as soon as possible to offer an alternative vehicle or date where available, or a full refund of any amount already paid for the affected rental. We will not charge a cancellation fee when the cancellation or change is made by us for these reasons.

The main driver must be at least 23 years old and hold a driving licence for at least 2 years; vehicles with more than 500 hp require a minimum age of 25. A valid driving licence, a passport or identity document, and a credit card in the main driver's name must all be presented at handover. Drivers holding a non-EU licence may be asked to also present an International Driving Permit.

Only drivers declared and accepted by us at handover are covered to drive the car. Anyone who does not meet these age, licence or document requirements will not be permitted to collect or drive the vehicle, and the cancellation terms described above will apply to the booking.

Handover and return locations and times are agreed in the written quote and confirmed in the booking. Because many of our bookings are tied to a fixed deadline — a wedding ceremony, a Biennale event or a Grand Prix weekend — we treat the timing of handover as a core part of the service, staging cars and, on request, a chauffeur at Marco Polo Airport, Mestre or the Piazzale Roma garage to match your schedule rather than offering a generic pickup window, with local drivers briefed on bridge traffic and congestion around Ponte della Libertà.

At handover we inspect the car together with you and record its condition, fuel level and mileage; the same checks are carried out together at return. Any discrepancy noted at return that was not present at handover, including damage, missing fuel or extra mileage, is charged in line with these terms and may be deducted from the security deposit.

Each rental day includes 200 km of driving. Kilometres driven beyond this allowance are charged at the rate stated in your quote. The car must be returned with the same fuel level as at handover; if it is not, the missing fuel is charged at cost plus a refuelling service fee.

Traffic fines, tolls and parking charges incurred during the rental period are the renter's responsibility. Where these are notified to us after the car has been returned, we pass them on to the renter together with an administrative fee to cover the cost of processing and forwarding them.

Insurance cover is included as described in your written quote. In the event of damage for which the renter is at fault, the renter is liable for the insurance excess specified in the quote, which may be deducted from the security deposit.

Driving abroad, taking the car on a track day or driving off-road all require our prior written approval before the rental begins; without it, these uses are not covered and any resulting damage is the renter's full responsibility. Smoking and pets are not allowed in any of our cars. Using a vehicle for an illegal purpose, for racing or speed testing outside an approved track event, for towing, or for sub-hire to a third party is likewise prohibited and may result in immediate termination of the rental without refund.

Our liability in connection with a booking is limited to the rental price paid for that specific booking, except where liability cannot be limited under mandatory Italian law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including missed events, flights or connections, unless caused by our own fault.

These terms are governed by Italian law. Any dispute arising from a booking that cannot be resolved amicably is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Italian courts, with the mandatory protections available to consumers under Italian law remaining unaffected. We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services or in the law; the version published on the website at the time of your enquiry applies to your booking.
